Raafay Uqaily (he/him), Event Planning Chair

Raafay Uqaily is a junior Honors Biomedical Engineering student. He serves his community in many ways and is involved with several student organizations on campus. Apart from being the Event Planning Chair for TEDxWVU, he is a Statler College Senator for WVU’s Student Government, the President of the Biomedical Engineering Society, Secretary for the American Chemical Society, Treasurer for The Rack, STEM Editor for the Mountaineer Undergraduate Research Review, Counselor for Camp Kesem, and both an Honors College and Statler College Student Ambassador. Additionally, he conducts research at the Cardiology Department, works as a Teaching Assistant (TA) for Calculus, and also works as an Advanced Student Tech for the ITS Service Desk.

Why did you join TEDxWVU?

With a keen interest in watching TED Talks, I hope this experience further enhances my event planning and leadership skills. 

What is your favorite thing about our organization?

This organization serves as a platform for individuals to raise their voices and promotes conversation of topics often ignored by mainstream media.
